Why We Started
Geek Socials

Every fandom story starts with a spark, a moment where passion turns into purpose. This is ours.
We walked the walk, now we'll talk the talk!

We’ve spent years walking through artist alleys, helping backstage at conventions, nerding out over character arcs, and building content that speaks to the heart of fandom. We found our dearest friends in the community, people we consider chosen family. But what we’ve also often felt, is the lack of representation. How mainstream media always feels a little bit condescending, consider us a little bit weird. How big creators visit conventions to make funny content that’s often borderline rude.  We always felt something was missing: a place where geek culture and strategy, creativity and community, content and storytelling could meet — without losing the magic. Represented by the gentle touch of creators who know the magic that lies within.

That’s why we started Geek Socials and with it, this blog: There and Back Again.

This isn’t just a space for marketing tips (though you’ll find plenty of those). It’s a place where creators, cosplayers, community builders, and geeky dreamers can find support, inspiration, and bold ideas. This isn’t about the money (although we do admit we’d like to make some one day), it’s about sharing the love. Whether you’re planning your first con, launching a brand around your art, or simply trying to show up on social media without burning out — we’re right there with you.

We’ll share stories, strategies, and side quests from behind the scenes, and give you the tools to turn your passion into presence.
Because your fandom deserves to be seen.

Behind Geek Socials is me — Solveig.

Writer, social media expert, lifelong geek, and someone who’s spent more hours at conventions, artist alleys, and in fandom forums than I can count. I went through a really tough time when I was about 17 and watched The Lord of the Rings every day. The movies and the lovely people in a fan forum and at a convention helped me through it. I’d even go as far as to say: They saved my life. Time to give something back!
I’ve worked with lots of geeky people to help bring their stories into the spotlight, always with heart, strategy, and a healthy dose of nerd energy. And now I’ve roped my dear friend Maria into doing Geek Socials with me.

Geek Socials is the space where all of that comes together: creativity, community, and the courage to show up as your weird, wonderful self.
